Bio

I believe the best technology is built collaboratively, in the open, with a bias toward trust and long-term impact.

I’m Katherine Druckman, a senior technologist, speaker, and longtime advocate for open ecosystems. I specialize in developer experience, security, and AI. I help organizations navigate complex technologies with clarity and purpose. My work combines software ecosystem strategy, content creation, and community building, grounded in a foundation of hands-on software engineering experience and proven leadership capabilities.

What I Do

With 18+ years in the software ecosystem, I’ve learned that the best communities form when you genuinely care about solving real problems. I turn complex cloud, AI, and security technologies into content that helps developers build amazing things, meeting them where they are to solve their real challenges.

I create and deliver content in many formats, including conference keynotes, blog posts, videos, and podcasts. My goal is to make open source, software security, and AI more accessible to a broad technical audience.

Coming from a technical background—having led engineering teams, built microservices, and lived the developer workflow—I bring practical understanding of how developers build, deploy, and secure systems in real-world environments. This foundation informs both my strategic contributions and my ability to connect authentically with engineering audiences.

Most recently, I served as Senior Open Source Evangelist at Intel for over three years, where I led thought leadership efforts related to secure AI and open source adoption. This role included external engagement, internal advocacy, and collaboration across the technology industry, working with incredible open source communities and Fortune 500 companies to build developer engagement strategies that drive real results.

I remain actively involved in the open source security ecosystem, contributing to initiatives at the Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF) and LFAI & Data, where I collaborate with industry leaders on secure development practices and practical approaches to emerging technologies.

Public Speaking and Media

I regularly speak at events including KubeCon, Open Source Summit, All Things Open, and SOSS Community Day. My approach is simple: listen to developers, solve their real problems, and measure what matters.

I’m also a passionate podcaster, currently hosting Reality 2.0, where I explore open source innovation, security, and the intersection of technology and society. Previously, I spent over a decade as Director of Digital Experience at Linux Journal and have been a Drupal contributor since 2005.

Whether you’re organizing a conference, panel, or podcast, I’d be happy to talk about developer relations, open source security, AI ecosystems, or the human side of building secure software.

Let's Connect

I’m always curious about new challenges in cloud, cybersecurity, and developer experience—especially opportunities to lead teams that make a real difference. I love connecting with fellow community builders and anyone working on interesting developer challenges. If you’re looking for leadership in developer relations or working on problems at the intersection of security, open source, and developer experience—or if you just want to talk about building better communities—say hi!
